Whether you are just learning to prepare raw vegan cuisine, a seasoned cook seeking inspiration or have special dietary needs, Chef Helen will give you step-by-step practical help to turn you into a skillful master of your own kitchen. Helen’s vast culinary knowledge, relaxed approach and easy-to-follow techniques are the perfect “recipe” for anyone wanting to learn more in the kitchen.
With private classes you will receive individual cooking instruction tailored to your interests, aims, skills, and physical space.
We don’t have particular menus or themes to sell. We do, however, take from local and seasonal ingredients where possible, and prefer hands-on instruction to demonstration. Private classes have included:
- Building a pantry of fundamental provisions for your home.
- A review of equipment and pantry essentials with advice on purchasing or placement of kitchen items.
- A review of basic raw food preparation techniques–good for those less experienced in the kitchen.
- Introduction to advanced raw food preparation techniques for those wanting to expand their skills.
- Knife Skills: Mastering efficient, safe, fluid technique.

Recipe Testing and Development
Testing ranges from a one-time test with basic feedback to multiple tests including feedback, suggestions, and edited recipes. All projects begin with a thorough review of the recipes. We then structure the pricing based on the complexity of the recipes and the amount of times they need to be tested. Groceries are billed separately. Chef Helen can transform your concept into a finished recipe or create recipes from scratch to help you complete a cookbook, a menu, or help sell a product. We begin with an interview to understand your target audience, objective, and concept. We are continuously researching and identifying trends in cooking–from ingredients to raw vegan preparation methods to health issues–so that your recipes reflect the needs of your audience.
